Best Creed Cologne Review – Top 5 Products Revealed 2018

I have used plenty of different cologne and perfume brands in the past but among them, Creed colognes have always been a standout. Because of this, I have tried on the different fragrance products from this brand in order to satisfy my curiosity as to which among them can be dubbed as the best creed cologne.

I know that many among us use colognes, perfumes and body sprays to smell good and feel confident about ourselves and we have always strived to get what’s best for us. Unfortunately, thousands of different colognes and perfumes litter the market so choosing the best one can be quite a daunting task.

The good news is, choosing the perfect fragrance has considerably become easy even if you don’t have keen olfactory sense or even if you’re not a master perfumer. In my case, after years (yes, years) of testing and sniffing, I can confidently say that choosing the best cologne is just a matter of choosing a trusted brand with long history of excellence. It’s that simple! Here are my recommendations for the best Creed cologne for both men and women.

My Recommendation for the Best Creed Cologne for Males

Introduced in 2010, this masterpiece created by the sixth-generation Master Perfumer Olivier Creed in collaboration with his son Erwin Creed, proved to be the best-selling fragrance in the brand since its inception 250 years prior. And I’m not kidding about the “best-selling” part. Creed Aventus is a best-seller for a good reason. It’s a perfect blend of fruit and musk without being feminine.

It starts off with a nice fruity blend of apple, bergamot, pineapple and blackcurrant leaves and ends with a rich aroma of musk, oakmoss, ambergris and vanilla reminiscent to the redolence brought about by galloping freely in the vast woodlands. It may sound poetic but every time you spritz Creed Aventus, you’ll feel like you’re in the great outdoors and actively chasing your dreams.

Creed Aventus, originating from the word “ventus” or the wind, is a flawless conflation of masculine aroma signifying a life of power, strength and success – perfect for driven individuals who are always living their life to the fullest. One spritz, and you’ll have ladies complimenting you left and right about how absolutely ravishing your fragrance is!

Here’s another notable Creed cologne for men - Creed Silver Mountain Eau de Parfum Spray. This product came about when the creator Olivier Creed wanted to evoke the same sense of adventure and euphoric feeling of skiing. As a champion skier, the sixth-generation Creed, finds renewal and relaxation in the icy landscapes and glacial streams of the Swiss Alps.

And as a Master Perfumer he no doubt wanted to capture the scent of the snow-white purity of the Alps - and capture he did. Swiss Silver Mountain Water is a perfect rendition of glacial euphoria. A single spray is a refreshing adventure of aromas starting from bergamot, mandarin and neroli, followed by green tea and blackcurrant and finishes with sandalwood and musk at the base.

This perfume’s sporty and refreshing scent is very versatile so you can use it as a signature fragrance. Since it’s also not overly masculine, so it can be used by both males and females alike. Silver Mountain continued to be one of the store’s bestseller since its inception in 1995 for its cool and playful scent and all for good reasons.

Originally released in 1948 and reinvented in 2004 in order to infuse all three parts of its namesake, Creed Vetiver Eau de Parfum Spray evokes the same fresh and calming fragrance of the vetiver plant and more.

Though not as popular as its millennial brother Creed Aventus, Creed Vetiver is nothing short of a masterpiece with its alluring blend of fragrances that reminds one of airy summers and the invigorating freshness that comes with it. With notes of bergamot, mandarin, white pepper, pinkberries, mysore sandalwood and Tonkin musk, I find it to have an elegant clean and fresh scent that gives off a gentlemanly vibe.

Sometimes though, people find Creed Vetiver’s fragrance to be reminiscent of a fresh-out-of-the-shower kind of scent. If you’re someone who digs that kind of aroma Vetiver is perfect for you. I, for one, loves smelling fresh especially on hot weathers where sweating is unavoidable.

  • Top note: Bergamot, bitter orange, mandarin, vetiver leaves

My Recommendation for Best Creed Cologne for Females

Love in White is a beautiful amalgamation of carefully picked floral scents from five continents that brings tribute to The House of Creed’s refined knowledge and appreciation of the world’s finest ingredients that could bring about olfactory euphoria.

This perfume releases a bold initial scent of orange zest and subtly morphs into a tranquil powdery-freshness hinted by Florentine Irises, French Daffodils, Bulgarian Rose and Tonkin rice. I find this scent very alluring especially the gradual blend of orange zest to flowery fragrance.

It is flowery but not overly so. It’s more of a muted flower fragrance with hints of baby powder and it reminds me of sophistication and soft feminine sensuality. For this reason, Love in White is more suitable for older mature women who wants to smell good on dates with their man.

  • Top note: Orange zest from Italy
  • Middle note: Florentine iris, daffodils from France, magnolia, Bulgarian rose, Tonkin rice
  • Base note: Vanilla, ambergris, Mysore sandalwood
  • Classification: Floral / Fresh

  • Very long lasting fragrance
  • Beautiful sillage
  • Fresh floral scents
  • Beautiful packaging
  • Suitable for older/mature women
  • Perfect for dates/meetings

  • Reminiscent of other perfume scents
  • A bit expensive

Created by the brilliant Master Perfumer Olivier Creed as an ode to The House of Creed’s couturier history, Royal Princess Oud is a titillating combination of woody and floral scents with the distinct aroma of Oud, a prized fragrance extracted from the resin-embedded heartwood of a tropical agar tree.

While looking at Royal Princess Oud’s features, especially the base notes, you may find yourself a bit intimidated with the amount of resin essence used, I mean, where’d you even see a feminine perfume with as much resin scent as that? Ouds were usually known for their rich, musky aroma and are often associated with masculinity but Creed has definitely succeeded in creating a decidedly delicate and feminine scent.

Royal Princess Oud opens with the sweet floral redolence of violets, jasmines with notes of vanilla ending with woody undertones of Mysore Sandalwood, Styrax and resins. Despite its rather ridiculous name, this perfume delivers a captivating fragrance fit for highborn monarchs or just about any modern day princesses or a priestess. I assure you, one spray of this unique perfume and you just won’t be able to stop smelling yourself!

  • Top notes: Sicilian bergamot, rose, sweet violet
  • Middle notes: Jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, iris from Tuscany
  • Base notes: Benjoin siam, a sweet gum resin from Thailand, Mysore sandalwood, Styrax, an ancient resin extracted from bark of shrubs in Asia
  • Classification: Woody / Floral

  • Long lasting
  • Moderate sillage
  • Unique fragrance
  • Beautiful packaging
  • Sensual, floral and feminine
  • High-quality ingredients

  • Expensive

Supposedly created for Audrey Hepburn in 1980s by sixth-generation Creed Master Perfumer Olivier Creed and released to the public sometime after her death in the 1990s, Creed Spring Flower aims to encapsulate Hollywood starlets’ glitz and glamour by blending fruity, floral and fresh scents in a single fantastic olfactory adventure.I’m not sure about the “Hollywood” part but Spring Flower is a fantastic scent nonetheless.

It starts with the sweet fruity fragrances of bergamot, apple, apricot, melon and a distinct note of peach that transition to the delicate floral scent of jasmine and rose and finally ending with a sensual feminine musk. Instead of Hollywood, the scent of Creed Spring Flower reminds me of a carefree individual dancing in a field of flowers.

  • Top note: Bergamot, apple, apricot, melon, peach
  • Middle note: Jasmine and Rose
  • Base note: Musk
  • Classification: Fruity / Floral / Fresh

  • Very long lasting fragrance
  • Moderate Sillage
  • Cute packaging
  • Suitable for younger generation
  • Clean and floral feminine scent
  • Perfect for spring and summer

  • Generic fragrance if not smelt closely
  • A bit expensive

How to Choose the Best Creed Cologne

What I outlined above are the best Creed Colognes that I ever had the pleasure of using but in order to choose the perfect scent for you, there are still some things that you have to consider when buying colognes or perfumes. The list above might not be up your alley so consider these things first the next time you go to a boutique you can be sure that you’re getting only the best.

1. Sillage

Sillage or fragrance trail refers to how well the fragrance of a perfume projects or how well the fragrance diffuses to the environment. The term sillage originates from a French word that means wake – as in the trail of scent left when you leave people in your wake. Though sillage is generally synonymous to how fragrant your perfume is, that’s not actually the case.

Sillage is more of a matter of the diffusive nature of the ingredients use. If you want to have a perfume that people can strongly smell choose colognes with stronger sillage as they are composed with more diffusive particles. If you want the fragrance to be more intimate, choose those with light and airy sillage that stay close to skin.

2. Longevity

Often times, perfume longevity is taken synonymously with sillage but that’s not correct. While sillage refers to the trail of scent, perfume longevity refers to how long the perfume smell remains on your skin.

Though longevity is often attributed to the concentration of the aromatic compounds used, it can also be affected by various external factors such as skin moisture. Longevity is a very important factor if you want the perfume to last longer on your skin and if you don’t want to spritz your cologne every other hour.

3. Notes

Perfume notes is one of the most important factors to consider when picking a perfume. Like how musical notes create a symphony, perfume notes create fragrance. These can range from various natural ingredients such as flowers, leaves and barks to synthetically manufactured one.

Notes are often divided into three scales – top notes, middle notes and base notes, consecutively to create an overall aroma that gives a particular brand of perfume its unique scent. The top note or head notes are the scents immediately recognized after spraying a bottle of perfume and often makes or breaks our initial impression of the fragrance. They are often the lightest scent and usually fade after 5-10 minutes of application.

The middle note or the heart note, on the other hand are considered as the core of the fragrance and the most dominant of all the notes and I agree with it as well. The middle note’s fragrance starts to make appearance after the initial scents (top notes) disappear. These are longer lasting than top notes and are usually a beautiful blend of fruity and floral scents with spice undertones.

Lastly, the base notes are what remain once the middle notes dissipate and are typically associated with the dry down period. These notes usually blend with the heart note and boost the longevity of the whole fragrance. As base notes are what lingers once most of the scents disappear, the base note is the most memorable scent you get from a perfume bottle and creates a longer lasting impression and take it from me, I have used this too.

Since the concept of the “best” is relative, people may disagree on whatever is on the list. How you choose your perfume and how satisfactory you find its smell all depends on your preference and how it blends with your skin chemistry. But if I personally have to choose among those listed above, I’d go for Creed Aventus for male, and Royal Princes Oud for females.

Creed Aventus for me is an embodiment of masculinity without the sense of being overbearing. The fruity and musky scent combination is just perfect and unique and is a total compliment getter. These reasons alone are more than enough for me to give it the title of the Best Creed Cologne for Men.

For women, I chose Royal Princess Oud for the ingenious blend of resin essences and flower fragrances that created a sensual feminine scent. The base notes are just pure heavenly you’ll find yourself slipping into a tranquil place. So for these reasons, I dub Royal Princess Oud the Best Creed Cologne for Women.
